このたび、「甲斐扶佐義 コロタイプ限定エディション」の発売が決定いたしました。
甲斐扶佐義のプリントとネガの多くは、2015年に発生したほんやら洞の火災で失われました。
便利堂のコロタイプは、国宝などの文化財の複製制作に使用されており、コロタイプに使用する和紙やインクは主に天然の素材を原料として使用されています。これにより、耐久性、褪色性、再現性に優れています。 この技法を用いて、甲斐扶佐義の写真作品を復刻し、後世に残すという願いから、このプロジェクトが始動しました。
今回、甲斐扶佐義の子供写真から厳選した4点を限定部数で販売いたします。今後もシリーズ展開を予定しております。
売上金は、甲斐の残されたプリントやネガの保存作業、アーカイブの場所を確保するため（ほんやら洞再建プロジェクト）、資金として活用いたします。
We are pleased to announce the release of the ‘Kai Fusayoshi Collotype Limited Edition.’
Many of Kai Fusayoshi’s prints and negatives were lost in the Honyarado fire in 2015.
Benrido’s collotype technique is employed in the reproduction of national treasures and cultural heritage, using primarily natural materials for the paper and ink, resulting in exceptional durability, colorfastness, and fidelity. It is with the desire to revive Kai Fusayoshi’s photographic works and preserve them for future generations that this project was initiated.
In this release, we are offering a limited quantity of four carefully selected pieces from Kai Fusayoshi’s children’s photography. We plan to continue with future series expansions.
The proceeds will be used as funding for the preservation of Kai’s remaining prints and negatives, as well as to secure a location for the archive (Honyarado Restoration Project).
左側がオリジナルプリント、右側が試作のコロタイププリントです。オリジナルプリントは火災現場から救出され、水に濡れてしわが寄っていますが、便利堂の技術により、コロタイプの原版を複製することができました。
The left side is the original print, and the right side is a prototype collotype print. The original print was rescued from the fire scene and had wrinkles due to being soaked in water, but with the help of Benrido’s technology, we were able to replicate the collotype original plate.
甲斐扶佐義のヴィンテージ・プリントは、現在非常に貴重なものとなり、入手困難になっています。多くのプリントやネガが、ほんやら洞の火災によって焼失してしまい、残存する甲斐作品の保全は、写真史上の急務とさえ言えます。
このコロタイプ限定エディションは、近年ますます評価の高まる甲斐扶佐義写真から名作を選び、少しでも多くの方にその魅力ある作品を愛蔵していただけるよう願い実行するプロジェクトです。
コロタイプは、19世紀中頃にフランスで発明された写真プリントの技法で、なめらかな階調に深い質感を湛え、顔料インキによる強い耐久性を持つのが特徴です。今回のエディションは、製版段階で甲斐扶佐義自身が細やかに監修し、便利堂の熟練した職人によって刷り上げられました。独特の風合いを醸すコロタイプによる写真プリントは、甲斐作品のイメージに新たな息吹をもたらしています。

The vintage prints of Kai Fusayoshi have become extremely rare and difficult to obtain. Many prints and negatives were destroyed in the Honyarado fire, making the preservation of surviving works by Kai a pressing matter in the history of photography.
These collotype limited editions are part of a project aimed at selecting masterpieces from the increasingly acclaimed photography of Kai Fusayoshi in recent years, with the hope of allowing as many people as possible to cherish these captivating works.
Collotype is a photographic printing technique that was invented in France in the mid-19th century. It is characterized by its smooth tonal gradation, deep texture, and strong durability achieved through the use of pigment inks. For this edition, Kai Fusayoshi himself meticulously supervised the plate-making process, and the prints were meticulously crafted by skilled artisans at Benrido. The photographic prints, created using the unique texture of collotype, breathe new life into the imagery of Kai’s works.
